Returning Students
To ensure timely processing and payment, members must follow these three essential steps for every term they request funding:
How to Apply
Application and Documentation – Submit a tuition request through the official STA portal. The application is not considered complete until the member uploads:
- An Official School Schedule: Must include the member’s full name and institution name. A downloaded document from your school in PDF format is required.
- An Official School Invoice: Must include the member’s full name and an itemized breakdown of tuition and fees. A downloaded document from your school in PDF format is required.
School Notification – Once the application is fully approved, the member must submit the Fully Approved STA request (Authorization/Voucher) to the institution’s Bursar or Financial Aid Office. This notifies the school that the Utah National Guard is a third-party payer for the remaining balance.
Grade Submission and Close-out – Within 15 days of course completion, the member must return to the portal to submit their grades:
- The member must upload a copy of their Unofficial Transcript showing the final grade for each funded course. A downloaded document from your school in PDF format is required
- As outlined in Section 1-9, failure to submit grades within this window, or failure to achieve a pass or grade of C or better, will initiate the recoupment process. A grade of C- does not meet the requirements of the STA program.
Summer Funding & Fiscal Year Deadlines
- For summer courses starting before July 1: You must submit your tuition assistance application by June 15 to secure prior fiscal year funding. Applications submitted after this date will be denied.
- For summer courses starting on or after July 1: Funding will automatically be drawn from the new fiscal year.
