State Tuition Waiver (STW)
General Information
This is for full-time students (12-18 credit hours) attending a Utah State public college or university:
- Salt Lake Community College
- Snow College
- Southern Utah University
- University of Utah
- Utah State University
- Utah Tech University
- Utah Valley University
- Weber State University
Eligibility
- Service member must be working on first associate or bachelor's degree and attend full-time
- Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA (UVU requires a minimum of 2.75 GPA)
- Service member must apply between 1 JAN to 30 APR for the following school year
- STW waives base tuition for either one or two semesters. STW does not cover fees, but recipients may apply for STA for fees prior to the start of each semester.
- There is a two year service obligation to the UTNG from the school year end date (ROTC SMP cadets excluded)

How to Apply for STW:
The STW packet requires the completed portal application, a current unofficial transcript (high school if this is your first semester of college), and a short essay (1 page, typed, double-spaced) outlining academic and career plans.
Important Information
- The STW is a waiver program. It is the only program that requires full-time enrollment in a Utah public school.
- For official notification of acceptance for the STW program, in some cases, students MUST accept the scholarship through their official school email.
