Unit Day and Heritage Celebrations

Honor the Legacy, Establish the Tradition

Overview

"A people without a heritage are like a tree without roots." – Marcus Garvey

Every military unit is built upon a foundation of history, lineage, and shared sacrifice. In the Utah National Guard, our legacy stretches from the early days of the territorial militia to the modern era of multi-domain operations. Honoring this legacy is not merely a look to the past; it is a critical leadership tool that fosters esprit de corps and builds resilience.

This page provides commanders, unit historians, and appointed Project Officers with the resources needed to research their unit’s heritage, discover their most significant historical milestones, and officially establish a Unit Day (Army) or Heritage Anniversary (Air).
