DRAPER, Utah – Soldiers from the Utah Army National Guard’s 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion (Linguist) will return from a nine-month deployment on Thursday, November 20, 2025. They are scheduled to arrive at the Salt Lake City International Airport, where they will be greeted by family members and fellow service members.

Approximately 20 Soldiers from the 142nd MI Battalion (Linguist) have been deployed in support of the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve in the Middle East, assisting the task force in conducting Human Intelligence and Counterintelligence Operations that support U.S. and allied forces. Their dedication and service during this deployment exemplify the commitment of the Utah Army National Guard to uphold the highest standards of military excellence.

“We are honored to welcome our Soldiers back to Utah. The dedication and sacrifice demonstrated by these Soldiers during their deployment have been exemplary. They left behind their families, education, and careers to serve our nation and uphold the values we cherish. We eagerly anticipate their safe return and the meaningful reunions that await them with their loved ones.” Said Lt. Col. Aaron Sutliff, Commander of the 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion.

Due to sensitivities associated with their mission, media was not invited to attend the arrival and no formal ceremony will be held.

The Utah National Guard is comprised of citizen Soldiers and Airmen who train as a combat reserve to the United States to fight and win our nations wars, and to respond at moment’s notice in support of our state and communities in times of disaster and emergency.
