You must be:

between the ages of 17 and have not reached your 42nd birthday
be a legal resident
have a high school diploma or equivalency unless you are still in school. In which case you must be a high school senior.

You must pass:

the entrance exam
medical screening
a background check

*The age limitation varies if you have prior military experience, are a medical professional or are a chaplain.

Yes.

We offer both State and Federal college tuition payment options. For Federal Benefits, Air Guard members can take advantage of the Chapter 1606 Reserve/Guard GI Bill, which pays a monthly stipend of $481per month toward college tuition and expenses. If you qualify, you can also receive the GI Bill Kicker, which could provide you with an additional $350 per month. In addition, the State of Utah offers up to $7,000 per year with no per credit hour limitation/cap. Talk to a recruiter to learn more about how to use both options!

State & Federal Benefits

The Air National Guard offers a wide range of state-specific benefits to help improve your personal and professional growth, giving you the ability to do more for your future and community while you serve your county.

State (Utah Only)

Eligible members are provided up to 100% of tuition. In addition, The Utah Air National Guard offers a State Tuition program, which members can receive up to $7,000 per funded year. As these two programs are state funded, members may be able to utilize their Montgomery GI Bill Concurrently to Maximize education benefits.
