Mission
The mission of the Utah National Guard Youth Programs is to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The program provides a safe place for young people to learn and grow. Our caring adult professionals help encourage and create life-enhancing programs and character development experiences and opportunities for all.

Gardening
JUNIOR MASTER GARDENING is for youth ages 6 to 12 years old. This program offers horticultural and environmental science education, leadership, and life skills through hands-on gardening activities. These SEASONAL classes are held at various locations throughout the state.
Classes coming in the Spring
STEM
UTAH NATIONAL GUARD KIDS STEM CLASSES include a variety of subjects based on the season. Winter classes include cooking, sewing, technology, robotics, science, and service. Spring and summer classes include gardening, art, engineering, science, leadership, and resiliency. Each flyer has a unique QR code for sign-up.
Day & Overnight Camps
UTAH NATIONAL GUARD KIDS SUMMER DAY OR OVERNIGHT CAMPS focus on resilience and leadership. Each year the Teen Youth Council chooses the theme, plans the daily agenda and activities supporting the theme. The council then facilitates either a day or overnight camp. The target age is 9 to 13 years of age. These camps are held at Camp Williams. The 2024 theme was “Survivor”.
State Youth Council
UTAH NATIONAL GUARD KIDS STATE YOUTH COUNCIL for teens 13 to 18 years of age. The council meets once per month. The instruction incorporates master resilience training, build a sense of belonging, infuse leadership and resiliency skills and techniques. Teens plan and execute our big events as well as volunteer during our summer camps, classes and volunteer for military and community events.
Regional Youth Council
UTAH NATIONAL GUARD KIDS REGIONAL YOUTH SYMPOSIUM is held once per year in late winter/early spring. This training promotes leadership, resilience, and personal development. Events like this allow youth leaders to share experiences with deployment, provide input on Child & Youth services, and develop action plans to advocate for military youth across a variety of platforms.
Month of the Military Child
APRIL IS THE MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD in celebration of this designation, events are held throughout the state at various locations to recognize military youth for their contributions and sacrifices. These events are STEM based to educate and provide hands-on activities. The goal is to assist children in rising to the challenges they face.
Kid Smartz
KID SMARTZ meetings are held for families with children ages 8 and older. Kid Smartz meetings cover a variety of topics including online safety, drug awareness, etc.
Little library
NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL FAMILY LITERACY MONTY! UTNG-Kids is setting up book exchanges at these armories: Richfield Armory, Spanish Fork Armory, West Jordan Armory, Camp Williams Youth Center, Ogden Armory. Bring a children’s book you no longer want and exchange it for another book to read!
