DRAPER, Utah – The Utah National Guard will conduct Exercise Wolverine; a large inter-agency homeland defense training event focused on improving readiness and emergency response across the state. The exercise will bring together service members and partner agencies to train for disaster response, support for civil authorities, and protection of critical infrastructure, including cyber threats.

Exercise Wolverine will strengthen coordination with civil authorities, improve Army and Air Force
integration, and sharpen rapid response capabilities, including no-notice recall.

“This is the first exercise we’ve conducted where the entire concept is based on a contested
homeland,” explained Maj. Gen. Daniel Boyack, The Adjutant General, Utah National Guard.

“For years we’ve believed the homeland was a sanctuary. That assumption is changing, and Exercise
Wolverine allows us to explore what defending the homeland truly looks like.”

The Utah National Guard regularly conducts exercises like Wolverine to maintain readiness to
respond to emergencies and support state and national missions.

Training environment(s) for Exercise Wolverine includes Camp Williams and adjacent communities,
Dugway Proving Ground, the Utah Test and Training Range, Central Utah Water Conservancy
District, and the Shops at South Town.
