DRAPER, Utah – Dec. 19, 2024 —The Utah Army National Guard’s 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is scheduled to begin returning from a deployment to Africa next week. The first group of soldiers are scheduled to return to the Roland Wright Air Base on Dec. 24, 2024, at 12:20 p.m.
“I am proud to have served alongside the soldiers of the 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade who continued the Utah National Guard’s legacy of outstanding military service during our deployment in Djibouti as the CJTF-HOA staff,” said Col. Woodrow Miner, commander of the 204th MEB. “We are looking forward to reuniting with our families and friends who have supported us along the way.”
The soldiers of the 204th MEB have completed a successful nine-month deployment to Djibouti and East Africa as the staff of the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa where they supported the U.S. and allied forces and Department of State Embassies. Soldiers of the 204th MEB, as the CJTF-HOA staff, planned and executed more than 200 senior leader engagements and more than 20 exercises and operations. These activities improved relationships with our allies and partners across East Africa and supported regional stability, humanitarian assistance, and security cooperation.
The remaining 150 Soldiers will return home over the next month.
