DRAPER, Utah – Feb. 27, 2025 —The Utah Army National Guard’s 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion (Linguist) are scheduled to deploy to support Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve in the Middle East. DRAPER, Utah – Feb. 27, 2025 —The Utah Army National Guard’s 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion (Linguist) are scheduled to deploy to support Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve in the Middle East. Roughly 20 Soldiers are scheduled to depart early Saturday morning, March 1, 2025. Due to sensitivities associated with their mission media will not be invited to attend the departure. The Utah National Guard’s Public Affairs Office will release b-roll and photos of the departure Saturday for any outlet desiring to run the story.

These Soldiers will be conducting pre-mobilization training for almost a month stateside followed by nearly a year deployed overseas. They will be assisting the task force in conducting Human Intelligence and Counterintelligence Operations.

“I’m extremely proud of the Soldiers that are headed out on this mission,” said Lt. Col. Jason Adamson, Commander for the 142nd MI Battalion. “They have worked tirelessly to prepare themselves to support one another and are a true testament to what it means to be a Citizen Soldier.”

As with all National Guard deployments these Soldiers leave behind loved ones to serve. “In order to defend freedom, family, and country, these Soldiers are giving up freedom, family and country,” said Chief Warrant Officer Two Andrea Marks, Mission Commander for the deploying unit. “They are leaving spouses, children, school, and careers. I’m grateful to serve with them and am very motivated to take care of them in order to honor what they are sacrificing to deploy.”

The Utah National Guard is comprised of citizen Soldiers and Airmen who train as a combat reserve to the United States to fight and win our nations wars, and to respond at moment’s notice in support of our state and communities in times of disaster and emergency.
