
DRAPER, Utah – The Utah Army National Guard’s 65th Field Artillery Brigade has been honored with the Meritorious Unit Commendation for exceptionally meritorious service during deployments supporting national security objectives. These deployments included Operation Spartan Shield, Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation Freedom Sentinel, between 2018 and 2019.
Ceremony Invitation:
The Utah Army National Guard will host a ceremony to formally present the Meritorious Unit Commendation to the Soldiers of the 65th Field Artillery Brigade on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the Lundell Readiness Center, Camp Williams. The ceremony will include the presentation of the award and remarks from key leaders. Members of the media are invited to attend and cover this significant event.
This announcement serves as official notification of the receipt of the Meritorious Unit Commendation, representing a proud chapter in the 65th FAB’s history and a testament to their commitment to duty and service.
The award recognizes the Brigade’s critical role in providing precision fire support to Iraqi Security Forces, contributing to the defeat of ISIS and the stabilization of liberated areas. Throughout the deployment, the 65th FAB consistently demonstrated excellence, delivering accurate and responsive fires under challenging conditions and constant threat, proving vital to the success of partnered forces.
This prestigious award, authorized under Army Regulation 600-8-22, recognizes the 65th Field Artillery Brigade’s sustained high level of performance throughout their deployment. Final confirmation is pending Department of the Army General Orders and the authorization of a decoration streamer by The U.S. Army Center of Military History.
